Practical work is a key component of science in schools, and as such Nelson's school provides dedicated Chemistry, Biology and Physics labs which are equipped with a range of required chemicals and apparatus necessary for carrying out practical experiments.

Within the Chemimstry lab all safety rules are taken into consideration and students undertake their practicals with the full supervision and guidance of a trained expert Chemistry teacher.

The Biology lab includes a wide sample variety of various species of plants and animals for academic study, including models of human skeletons and other body systems which allow for visual learning to take place. The Physics lab includes a range of electronic and optics based instruments providing students with real 'hands-on' practical experience of scientific study.
